Blade shape

How to draw a blade as simply as possible? Model as an attachment (Blade_Model.ipt)

The blade is drawn by surface modeling and cut to the correct shape
and given the thickness.

I would like the model to be simple so that it is easy to control, because all dimensions
are changed so the model needs to be good(simple)

The model also needs to get a flat pattern.

Can someone draw / help an example model of how this would be done most easily?

I like the following method, although I am not sure it can generate a flat pattern... but if you want to make some dimensions as parameters later and adjust/tweak your blade's attack angle, this could work:
1- Revolve the profile of the enclosure (torus), as a solid;
2- Make two sketches in 2D, with the profiles for the outside tangent and inside tangent faces;
3- Create a lofted NEW SOLID through those two sketches;

Capture149.JPG
4- Combine the INTERSECTION of the loft and your torus;

Capture150.JPG
5- Circular pattern the resulting SOLID (blade) as needed.

Hi! To add to Gabriel's approach, either Loft or Guide Sweep will work. But, it is better to create surface output instead of solid output (Thicken it later). This will ensure uniform thickness. Loft does not guarantee uniform thickness.

Many thanks!

How to do this without these dimensions (radius 10 in, radius 17,5 in, height 12 in and height 17 in)?
And give the angle dimensions? Alfa 1 and Alfa 2, look at the picture

Hi Manu,

I am not sure I understand the question. I was proposing creating the Loft with Surface output, not Solid output. To create the surface, you don't need the thin profile. Instead, you just need curves. You can dimension however you like. Simply loft through these curves to create the surface. Lastly, use Thicken command to make it a uniform thickness solid body.

Many thanks!

Accepted solution

See the updated file attached.

I am not sure if this is exactly what you want but it will be close, or give you some ideas of how to use planes and axes well enough to make what you want.

I used planes set to the angles I believe you wanted (from your pictures). And I set those angles as parameters to make it a bit more elegant:

Capture175.JPG      Capture176.JPG

And made axes where those planes touched the section plane cutting the torus, allowing for the use of some construction lines in the sketch to which I could constrain against:

Capture177.JPG

This should be made cleaner if we indeed create a surface output then thicken it, but I will leave that work up to you 😉
