Bevel gears not acting properly to keep screw shaft straight

Hi there,

I am trying to use dynamic simulation as part of a project and would like to get the archimedes screw shaft to only rotate around the x axis of the assembly, whereas it is currently rotating around the z axis of assembly. I want it to be aligned with the couplings at the top and bottom of the cube and remain straight so that the power transmitted from the coupling can rotate the screw. I have attached a zip folder containing the files, with the assembly being under 'assembled box - copy(3)'. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you

Have you tried constraining it to an axis? If the axis is not ideally XY, etc. you can xreate a point and then create an axis between the bushings and and then constrain that part to that axis?

I cannot open that assembly as I am using inventor 2019.

+1 on Maciej's reply. Try constraining the auger axis to the bushing (bearing, whatever it is?) hole axis and see if that doesn't help

Hello @Anonymous I see that you are visiting as a new member to the Inventor Forum.

Check your geometry, it appears the holes in the box don't align with the Shaft3withGearandScrew when all of the other rotational constraints are set.

As a general practice, I would attach the bearings to the box first, then the rods to the bearing, then the parts to each other. I find using Insert Constraint or Assemble works best for cylindrical faces and edges at once and can turn on lock rotation if needed.

Thank You so much! After messing around with it for a day, i was able to achieve the desired results.

Still new to all this... haha

Did you really succeed with matching teeth in DS? I've spent some time with finetuning ..
