Bend Channel to follow shape

Hi all,

I would like to learn how to make a structural component from the content center to follow a shape.

In the attached, I have a plate with a round nose and a channel on the edge of the plate.  I would like the channel to follow the curve around and as a bonus, make it stretch to the end.

I thought I could sweep this but that has alluded me.

Thanks, Steven

It can be done with Frame Generator, but it adds a little more complexity to your part names, file structure, and BOM. See attached...

If you dont like the idea of using frame generator, you could always derive in the plate, sketch the cross section of the channel, and then sweep it along the outside of the plate, just another alternative:

I actually did this yesterday and it works well.  The weight and length seem to work out correctly and it is relatively easy to do.  I have to enter the BOM details but that is not an issue at all.

Thanks, Steven

Thanks for this!  I can see this being useful especially if there are a lot f differenet curves.
