Basic dimensioning question

This image is from a dwg supplied by the manufacturer. Could anybody please tell me how to derive end thickness of the taper for the inner jaws (17mm length)?

@Anonymous

Many times vendors leave off dimensions so their product is not manufactured by others (meaning its done that way to protect their design or Intellectual property).

Is the image you are showing in your posting based on an AutoCAD drawing file?  If you have a "DWG" file and have Inventor 2016 or newer, you can use ANYCAD and use that 2D information to project into your part file of this extrusion.

If its based on a PDF and the PDF information is newer and you have access to AutoCAD 2017...  Well you can use that version to convert the PDF information into a DWG file format.  And then use ANYCAD to project geometry form.

If you just have an image of it and you have no way of measuring the information in CAD or on the actual product, well you will need to "fudge" it or ask the vendor nicely Smiley Very Happy if they will provide this information to you.

I would set up the profile to be suitable for use with the Frame Generator.
Have you installed all Service Packs and Updates for your version of Inventor?

I think @Anonymous was already on that path (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/frame-generator-profile-with-3-individually-selectable-drawings/m-p/7468076#M664058)..  Smiley Wink

The median answer seems to be that there is no way to compute this geometrically/arithmetically. Am I interpreting this correctly?

Yes, I am in the process of migrating all this stuff to frame generator. I can absolutely simply inspect the sketch to extract the data, I just wanted to see if there was some math I could do at it.

Simply use parametric dimensions.

So, you are saying that there is sufficeint data in the sketch for Inventor to compute the unknown value?

What value is unknown?

Now that I have all of the parameters - I would probably redraw from scratch and clean it up a bit to simplify.
