Background Coloring Errors

My viewing window for parts and assemblies is switching between 2 backgrounds as I change the viewing position. In parts it's not as bad as the color of the background is switching between the sky blue and rusty orange, but in drawing the background is doing the same thing and the sheet is turning bright blue. I tried switching the background between presets and it is doing the same thing. This happened overnight after a graphics driver update. Is there any way to fix this as it is getting annoying to look at it?

Welcome to the forum.

I would revert the video driver back to what it previously was.

What card model and manufacturer you have?

press WIN+R then type dxdiag and press Enter. in the display tab what do you have?

And what do you have in Inventor Tools Application Options Hardware tab?

If you get this behavior with a driver update, try to downgrade the driver with a previous one.

Hi! I have never seen such behavior before. It should be graphics related. Try this test real quick. Go to Tools -> Application Options -> Hardware. Change it to Conservative mode. Close Inventor and restart it. Does it still flash? Could you also check the graphics vendor software and see if there is any setting related to application background?

Many thanks!

I have an AMD Radeon HD8970M and my hardware was on Performance. The problem with downgrading is the Windows Creator Update installed and was causing driver issues until AMD updated their drivers to actually detect the card post update. For about a week it was running on the backup graphics card which is the Intel HD Graphics 4600. That graphics card is actually still in Display 1 while the AMD card is in Display 2. I am wondering if both graphics cards when I change the view are trying to do the task and that is causing the flickering effect. Could possibly just disable the Intel card as that one is 120ish MB compared to the AMD card that is around 4100 MB.

Edit: Disabling it still had the flicker persist.

The viewing window does still flash after changing the hardware to conservative mode and restarting the application.

Hi! Aside from the dedicated AMD graphics card, do you have a secondary integrated graphics card also? If yes, could you either disable it or force the machine to run Inventor on the dedicated AMD graphics card?

Many thanks!

I agree with Johnson, try to disable the integrated video adapter in control panel device manager or try to see if ATI has an option on the video card panel, usually on right-click on the desktop.

If that doesn't work I would disable it in BIOS and see if that improves.
