Autodesk Shared Views - Inventor 2026

Hello,

Has anyone else noticed a change in the shared view function within inventor since downloading Inventor 2026?

Since updating I am having an issue where the created share view is displaying all surfaces, even though their visibility is set to off at the part level. Previously, the visibility state was followed when creating a share view.

Also experiencing an issue where the default top plane is no longer following the default plane set in the document settings. It seems to be defaulting to the inventor default plane (XZ). Previously the default plane that is set in document settings was followed when creating a share view.

Thanks.

Hi Jake,

I could be wrong but I am not aware of any change in this regard. Please share an ipt file that exhibits the behaviors. I would like to understand the Shared View behavioral change better.

Many thanks!

Hi

The latest version of AV supports view representations.

It would be best if you could provide a sample file and a link to the AV for that file.

I was thinking the same as Kacper, could it be that your default view rep is showing in the viewer and you just need to activate the one where the surfaces were switched off?

Hello,

I have not dug into the representations support, that maybe be the root of my issue now. Is this something that the end user opening the link will have to select? I suspect maybe the view being created from my assemblies is defaulting to "primary" view representation.

I've created a test part and link with a generic surface that has its visibility turned off. As you will see in the link, the surface is visible.

See attached.

Hi! The camera angle was incorrectly exported. This has been confirmed as a defect, INVGEN-86272.

Many thanks!

Johnson,

Can you elaborate? Are you saying that the default top view export is confirmed a defect?

This doesn't address the representation. Upon further digging, the representation is exporting by default to the locked primary. This normally wouldn't be an issue but you can't modify it as its permanently locked.

I see that you can now select between the different view representations within the viewer. This in theory solves the issue as the end user could select the representation that is intended to view. However, I'm often sending these layouts to customers for viewing/review and unfortunately most customers do not have any idea how to navigate 3D modeling software/viewers. Sometimes the customers even have a hard time downloading free viewers to open other file time exports.

The share view was nice as you could simply send a link that was created from the active representation, colors, visibility, etc. all remained and the customer could open it on something as simple as a phone to view.

Is there a possibility the share view could revert back to being exported to the active representation by default?

Hi! Based on my understanding of the defect, it is indeed a regression from 2026 or prior releases. The process of preparing and converting Inventor model to the online format sets the camera angle incorrectly. It was working before but it is broken unfortunately. I am not aware of a workaround. I could be wrong but I don't think the fix would be able to "revert" the existing shared views that have the wrong camera angle.

Many thanks!

A few things:

  1. You can control visibility using views.
  2. You can control visibility using the browser.
  3. The Autodesk Viewer has always treated invisible elements as semi-transparent. It never completely removed them from view.
  4. The problem is that AV doesn't currently recognize the visibility state of surfaces. This means they remain transparent in the graphics window (as intended), but are defined as visible in the browser, which is misleading for the user.
