Autodesk 2008 could not find data managment services on (sever name) HELP!!!

Me and my boss just installed Autodesk inventor 2008. We have the two seats installed locally on our workstations and we have installed vault and ADMS on our server. I have made accounts for both of us in ADMS and when we go to log into vault on our workstations we get this error (attached picture).
We really need to get this stuff up and running A.S.A.P so any help will be appreciated. Thanks!!

On the machine that contains the ADMS Console, is there a firewall active?
Another thing it might be is whether you installed IIS or AWS on the ADMS
Console machine. Do you recall which you installed?

Thanks,
Jim

We currently have a windows firewall active on the server and also Norton Antivirus protection on. The windows firewall however has exceptions allowed for autocad and vault. I turned it off and tried to log in again and it still did not work. As for IIS and AWS we are unsure of what we installed. How do I go about finding out? Thank a lot!

If you open up the Control Panel and select "Administrative Tools" (if on
XP), this will bring up the Administrative Tools dialog. Select "Internet
Information Services" (if this does not exist you have AWS). Once you have
the "IIS" dialog up expand the "Web Sites" folder -> "Default Web Site"
folder. Is there an "AutodeskDM" site? If you are running AWS, I would
make a backup of your Vault. You are going to have to uninstall the server
and put IIS on the machine and than run the server installation again.

I followed your instructions and do have IIS installed. Underneeth web sites there is one web site named "Default web site (stopped)."

Since there is no AutodeskDM website in the Default Web site area...it
sounds like IIS was installed post the ADMS Console. Is there a way to
backup what you have and uninstall ADMS Console and SQL. At that point,
reinstall. During the re-install process you shouldn't see the attached
screen. If you do...make sure you select the IIS option. At that point,
you should be able to connect to it via a remote machine. Another thing
you might want to check prior to doing all this just to be on the safe
side...make sure you have port 80 🙂 If that port is not open, that is
probably going to be the problem. I know you mentioned earlier that you
tried with the firewall off and had the issue but I always want to double
check.

Thanks,
Jim
