Auto-Save reminder not showing

I would like to be able to turn on the auto-save reminder.  I have the reminder time set for 1 minute and it still does not show.  I checked the prompts tab and see the "Save Reminder".  It is set to OK and Always show.  There must be something else that is keeping it from showing.

What else has to be set in order to see the save reminder (file does need to be saved.... of coarse)?

Sorry mate cant help, but I feel your pain.

There is the obvious of the check box, but I feel stupid mentioning it.

The other test, is change it to a longer time frame to see if the reminder pops up?

I actually switched mine off, as it was irritating.

'CTRL-S' keys on my keyboard have already lost their paint, and look nice and shiny.

Thanks, but the first box I checked was on the "Save" tab. I have restarted, but it still will not prompt me.

Fair to assume you have this set in application options?

I don't think its working in 2019..

I set it for 1 minute.. Ensured that the prompt is OK/Always.. Opened a file and made some changes and sat for 2 minutes..

No reminder ever came up..

I am using 2018.3 here and that's what I'm starting to think.  From the Help, it seems that it is supposed to appear only if the file needs to be saved and the notification has not been disabled.

Kirk,

Mine is working and I am using 2018.3

The only difference between your settings and mine is you have that "Do not list referenced files..." checked.

Try unchecking it and see if it starts working.

Scott,

That's good to know where its supposed to display.  I don't know if I have ever seen it pop-up.  I have another user that wants this to be displayed, but I can't get it to work on their machine.

I checked the notifications in the communication center also.  Here is what I see.  Not 100% sure that this controls the balloon notifications for the auto-save.

In 2019 I do not have that communication center icon nor do I have that favorite star anymore either.

I have no idea if thats something I turned off or if its not part of 2019 anymore.

Sorry, sounded like you were having the same issues.

I don't need it either.  I am my own auto save functioned.  Been programmed for years. Smiley Very Happy

Mine is  working now. Now I can explain to someone else how to get theirs to work.

2018-08-01_0809.png

All that I did was toggle this setting from "Display until closed" to "Use balloon notification display time" and it started working.... Go figure!!  Now I can change it back to "Display until closed" and it stays up until I close it.

I re-checked the "Do not list referenced files that default to "No" ".  The notification still displays regardless of this setting. Having that un-checked drives me nuts.

@mcgyvr

I just looked in 2019 and I don't have the communication center either in 2019.  So maybe they have another means of displaying the notification.

This issue is back. Where is this "display until closed setting"?

Its in the "Infocenter" settings under Balloon Notifications.  Look further up in this thread to see what the window looks like. I was using 2018 then and was not able to find that dialog in 2019.  I am not sure how to get to that in my Inventor now (2022) either.

What Inventor version are you using?

I'm using 2024. There is no "infocenter settings".
