Attaching GD&T feature control frame

Is there a way to attach a GD&T feature control frame to a hole callout?

In the attached image, I would like the GD&T feature control frame to move with the 6-32 hole callout.

I've never seen it possible.

Maybe could be an Ilogic or Sketch symbol that's populated ..which would be more work ...

@ToddPig

You sure are good at finding things Solidworks does better than Inventor..Smiley Wink

SWx has been able to do this for years now..

Wonder how much it works the other way around too.. aka stuff that Inventor does better..

There are quite a few things I've seen SWx do that I've said.. Well chalk up the easy win for SWx on that one..

Not sure I want to know.. Ignorance is bliss..

The GD&T in Inventor can use some help.
The feature control frames are way too long (too much dead space)
Attaching Datums to a feature control frame is a cumbersome process
Regardless of Feature size no longer has a symbol (always implied)
I can't figure out what the "Datum Identifier" field is for? (I think this might be left over from pre 1994 standard)
Can't do two-single segment feature control frames?

A bit of a work around but once done it's done.

There are two grips on the hole note leader, bend corner and end that you can attach the FCF leader to.

Change Styles and Standards FCF Leader style to Alternate (or create a new style)

Edit the Alternate Leader style color to White and Arrowhead to None.

The FCF will print without a leader visible but you  can still see (and use) it when working with the drawing.

With the Feature Control Frame command active try hovering above, below or to the side (centered on the dimension, a small distance from the nearest text edge) of the dimension to attach the Feature Control Frame .  A green dot will appear, double click on the green dot and input the infomation to complete the Feature Control Frame.  The Feature Control Frame will be attached to the green dot and will move with position changes to the dimension.

Attached is a jpg image to clarify my comments.  A single click on the green dot will allow placement of a Feature Control Frame with a leader.

How quickly I forget I've answered this question before.. I haven't done a drawing in Inventor in a while though.. and rarely used GD&T..

Also shows that a quick google search would have given todd his answer right away..

I can get it to connect,

however I hate how it connects ...(at least in my example)   I've tried a few different models to see if I can get a different position...nope

David,

Good idea.  I was able to attach the feature control frame to my hole call-out, but the way it was attached is not desirable.  I'm able to move the feature control frame relative to the dimension (and still keep it attached), but could not move it directly below the dimension (where it would typically be placed).  I'll keep messing around with this and see if I can figure it out.  Thanks for the idea.

David,

I was able to get it to attach to a dimension that had one line (just like you example) but could not get it to attach (cleanly) to a multi-line dimension.

See both the good and bad examples attached.

How did you get the feature control frames to be compact (or as they should be)?

Todd,

Be sure to select the green dot in the location where the Feature Control Frame attachment is desired.  The Feature Control Frame will justify relative to the green dots of the dimension.  The attached example uses a hole note and a dimension with text attached.  The green dots are usually centered on the dimension text.

Green dot is not a very technical term, perhaps attachment point would serve better.  Smiley Happy

There is a White Space value on the Feature Control Frame Standard Editor Page, mine is set to 0.035 and the Symbol Size is set to Scale to Text Height.

Nice workaround! That worked for me. Not ideal but the best I've found so far.
