Assembly cut - graphic error: parts seem to overlap

Hello,

I am running Inventor 2021 an experienced a graphic error in assemblies when I cut the assembly model using "half section view".

It looks as if the distance ring and the ball bearing are overlapping with the shaft (brown colour).

But they all have the same diameter. And they are all coaxial...I mean they are on the same axis.

In a "quarter section view" of that area it looks different.

Has anybody experienced this phenomenon and/or knows a way to fix it?

Hi @Jakob_Hamburg,

Try one of these settings in application Options:

If the above does not fix this, here are some other quick changes to try:
1) Tools (tab) > Application Options > Hardware (tab) > set to "Quality";

2) Tools (tab) > Application Options > Hardware (tab) > set to "Software Graphics";

3) Tools (tab) > Application Options > Assembly (tab) > set to "Section all parts";

4) Tools (tab) > Application Options > Assembly (tab) > Express Mode Settings > set to "Open Full".

Please let us know if any of these work.

Hi Jakob,

Maybe you want to try running Interference Analysis (Inspect tab). It is possible the components are indeed overlapped.

Many thanks!

@johnsonshiue : It is really not overlapping. I double checked. And also my colleagues (with same infrastructure) experienced this in similar models.

It seems to me to be a problem with "refinement". So the "error" is difficult to reproduce...I will have to observe it.

If I disable automatic refinement and then do manually the result is okay, means no overlapping at all.

@Gabriel_Watson :

Tools (tab) > Application Options > Hardware (tab) > set to "Quality"

This helped only gradually...the overlapping is not that obvious but still  there.

But thanks anyway. I will look into your other suggestions later.

Hi Jakob,

Then the behavior is expected. When "Disable Auto Refinement" option is checked, the graphics system will stop refining graphics objects when zoom, rotate, and pan. This will lead to better performance since refinement can be time-consuming.

"Refine appearance" command (similar to AutoCAD's REGEN) does refresh the graphics.

Many thanks!

I just found out that the problem was announced before.
