Application Options Text Size Limits

Hello.

I'm having display issues with my monitor and would like to increase the text size in the entire Inventor environment.  This as NOT a problem with Drawing environment dimensions and related issues to which all attention seems to be given. The largest text size that is allowed in the pull-down menu is font size nine (9)   Application Options----Text Appearance----Font Size (8), or (9) only.  Is there a way to select larger font sizes.  Again this has nothing to do with drawing dimension and such.  I'd like to use a font size bigger than 9, throughout all of inventor.

Thanks

Dave

@BrentEkin8486

If I understand you correctly, you just want to increase the font sizes in the application options and other types of dialog windows within Inventor only?

So, going into Windows settings and changing the resolutionsettings for your screen is NOT  what you are after.

If the above is true, I am not aware of any settings that change what you are looking for.  This is an internal programming setting that is contingent on the resolution settings.

Thanks Scott

You're correct.  I was hoping I could change Inventor's text only.

Thanks for looking into it.

Now I'm curious what sort of "Display Issues" are effecting Inventor only?

I'd suspect that Windows really wants programs to follow their standars so global control is possible/preferred..

Windows "Ease of Access - Display" settings have a slider to effect font size only in addition to the global (font and more) % scaling

Hi Brent,

I believe you want to change the Display DPI setting. Go to Windows Display setting and change it to a bigger scale. Does it work better now?

Many thanks!

I would also like to see more options beyond just 8 and 9. Windows' scaling functionality is a bit of a problem for me at work, due to some older programs that don't get along with it, and having different models of monitor running different resolutions. So it has to stay at 100%.

I'll also add that some built-in programs, specifically Nastran at the moment, don't properly follow use the Application Options' Text appearance 9pt font setting: Text in the dialog boxes, such as the Constraint popup, is all 8pt.

I see this reply.

Next obvious question:

How do we get Autodesk to simply enable larger text size (for dimensions and parameters) in the modeling environment?

What excuse can there be for not simply enabling this? 9pt Font size simply doesn't work, much of the time, and increasing the overall display magnification on a monitor is not an acceptable answer.

Hi Chuck,

I wish I had an easy answer to make it happen. The truth is that the solution isn't that straight forward. The problem with the UI font size is that Inventor supports multiple languages (using Language Packs). Each UI element's size is carefully chosen based on the given font size (8 or 9). In order to support more sizes, the elements will have to be redesigned and adjusted accordingly. This is unfortunately a very big task.

This is why adjusting the overall DPI might be a more straight forward solution. I understand this is not what you like to hear. But, this is the best I can offer at the moment unfortunately.

Many thanks!

I am really desiring this as well.

I find text size way too small.

Hi! At the moment, you will need to change the scale in the Windows Display settings to see bigger text in Inventor.

Many thanks!

I just updated to Inventor 2025 and font size within the Modeling environment is still an Issue.

Being able to ENLARGE the font size on dimensions and text in the Modeling environment is not just a request or suggestion, it is NECESSARY to perform daily tasks. Please forward this to the development Team to address the PROBLEM.

Hi! At the moment, the best alternative workflow I can offer is to bump up the Windows Text font. Go to Windows Ease of Access settings -> Display -> Make text bigger.

Many thanks!

No, accessing the Windows font and Display settings won’t change the
Modeling font size. It only makes the whole program viewing larger.

It was finally solved yesterday with another technician.

I’ve found that several people on the forum have tried to find the right
answer for the same situation.

Please pass it along or make it part of your documentation.

To solve the problem;

Application Options >

General Tab >

*Annotation Scale* (right
side, about halfway down)

by changing this setting, it addresses the issue of the font/text size in
the Modeling Environment. One can enlarge the dimension and text size to
read without straining. It makes it so much more user friendly.

For anyone coming back to this, I've found a solution to scale the entire application.

First of all, don't use the method of changing the High DPI setting to "System" or "System (Enhanced)". This will just make all of the text blurry.

Instead, right click on the application > compatibility > change high DPI setting.

From there, make sure both tick boxes are selected. Make sure the "High DPI scaling override" is set to "Application".

Next, click the "Open Advanced scaling settings" which should open a settings window.

In these settings, turn off the "Let windows try to fix apps..." and then set your custom scaling to whatever you want. (I've used 150%).

Hit Apply, then sign-out of windows and sign back in. Inventor should now be scaled to your custom scale, without making everything blurry.

This worked for me, and hopefully works for you.
