Application Options "Unsupported Operation"

Inventor 2017

Went to change "snap to Grid" (which randomly turned itself on) and I'm told it is an unsupported operation. I can't make any changes to the settings at all.

Anyone know why?

Is this a new problem and you have been using Inventor on this computer before for a while without issues?

Have you made successful changes to the application options before?

Have you restarted your computer lately?

Have you tried the Inventor reset utility?

Yes this is new, been using 2017 for a year or so.

I don't remember when I was in here last, a month maybe? but I used to be able to make changes.

I just restarted before lunch when I first found this problem.

What is the restart utility? what does it do?

Its in the Autodesk folder in your start menu (or whatever its called now in Windows 10)..

It will "repair" a corrupt user profile which can cause all sorts of goofy Inventor problems..

I would try that first..

Note: export your application options first so you can import them again after the reset.

I'll try that tomorrow probably, I am under the gun to get drawings out so I will muddle through today.

In addition to @mcgyvr suggestion..

This message could point to the following (if the reset doesn't work):

1.  Corrupt C++ installation on your machine.  https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-remove-and-reinstall-Microsoft-Visual-C-Runtime-Libraries.html

2.  Corrupt Inventor installation.  Perform a clean uninstall per these instructions.  Just make sure to adjust settings if you have other Autodesk products already installed/working on your machine.  Install and apply all necessary updates.
