Application Options File Paths

In the Application Options I want to change my paths so that they are universal for everyone. Then I could easily share an export of my settings with other users. The path will be exactly the same for everyone except that my username is in there. Is there a variable that I can use to represent the username like the release in the presets path? I also tried to replace the "R2024" with "R%RELEASE%", but when I do that, it still reverts back to the "R2024".

Does anyone know what variables can be used and how they should be used?

Fairly certain you can use %appdata%

But why not put it in a network hosted location? So any updates to, say, templates, is accessible to everyone?

Map the location to the same drive letter and use that. It'll be universal.

We have all our files on Teams/Sharepoint which is then synchronized locally, but this means that you actually reference a local folder where your username is in the path. That's why I'm looking for a variable for the username. This way it should always be referencing up to date files (assuming you have an internet connection of course) and you can access it from anywhere with your laptop.

Well, you can use %userprofile%/WhateverFolder/Teams/sharepoint/whateverFolder

That's what I was looking for, but unfortunately it seems like you can't use variables in the default templates path and the design data path. Could you confirm this @johnsonshiue ? If that's the case I think my only option to make everything universal is, like you said, move everything to a network drive.

You're right. That seems rather odd

Design Data seems to accept it, but not templates.

Hi! Indeed, this is a known issue (INVGEN-64347), which has not yet been resolved. At the moment, we don't have a good solution to make it consistent.

Many thanks!

Thanks @johnsonshiue for confirming this. I hope this will get resolved in the near future.
