API - Split feature

Is there a way to use the split feature to split one solid body into multiple solid bodies based only if a certain portion of the solid body is not touching another part without splitting the part using work planes?

I've looked extensively into the split features and haven't found a way to do it. Any help would be appreciated!

So to recap, i would theoretically like to run the code on this part and have it automatically split the part into 5 solid bodies.

Hi! I don't believe such command or API exists. Inventor at the moment can only split a solid body into two solid bodies, not more than two. Here is a related discussion. Look at Post#9. It has a workflow to achieve the same goal.

Many thanks!

okay, i understand what you mean. I am more or less looking to split one solid body into two and then running a loop to make it split multiple, based on the two solid bodies not touching each other.

In both examples they are one solid body.

Example 1. would not split the part

Example 2. would split the part because a portion of the solid body is not touching the other portion.
