ANSYS Workbench ribbon missing

Dear Community,

I come to you with a simple but rather odd problem.

I have succesfully installed and run Ansy on windows 10 and I have used the Ansy button from inventor.

Note that I have installed Ansys on an external Hard drive.

When I disconnected and later used again Inventor, the icon or ribbon went missing.

Have you come accross similar problem before?

Are you aware of a way to link back inventor with Ansys workbench?

Would this prevent me to import/export objects to Ansys from Inventor?

Thanks in advance for your support,

Jules

Hi! If ANSYS Workbench is an Inventor Add-In, you can go to Tools -> Add-Ins and see how it is load.

Many thanks!

I've got the same issue. I've installed Inventor professional 2018 and ANSYS 17.2. I did that CAD configuration thing in ANSYS and everything worked just fine. But I later installed ANSYS 11 and since then Mechanical APDL 17.2 doesn't open and that of 11 opens. Also the Ansys 17.2 ribbon,in inventor is missing, but in the plug-ins of inventor workbench 17.2 is present but I'm unable to make edits in workbench to the geometry, for ex: I cant't make named sections in workbench, I also can't open this file in design modeller. Please help!

Hi! Could you go to Tools -> Add-Ins and take a snapshot and post it here? I want to make sure the Add-In is loaded.

Many thanks!

Hi! Workbench 17.2 is listed at the bottom of the list. It should mean is was installed. The load behavior shows it should be loaded when an applicable document is opened. Currently is not yet loaded. Could you select the entry and check "Loaded/Unloaded" box? If it does not work, could you check with ANSYS and see if 17.2 should work with Inventor 2018?

Many thanks!

Hi, so I did check load/unload and hit ok. But after that if I open Add-ins again, it's still unloaded. Here I've left 3 pictures to see.

How do I check if Ansys 17.2 works with Inventor ? Thanks for your quick replies!

I'm trying to solve this fluid flow mixing problem on ansys fluent. I want to create geometry on inventor, create named sections within inventor and then open then open the geometry in workbench and continue on with meshing. I could do that before. But now since the ribbon isn't the present in inventor I thought I could import the geometry to workbench and then edit the geometry using design modeller of ansys. But it shows this dialog box. Thank You for your patienceUntitled.pngz7.png

Hi! Based on the following link from Ansys.com, Workbench 17.2 does not seem to support Inventor 2018. It does support Inventor 2017 and earlier releases.

Many thanks!

@Anonymous: In the following thread, you asked the same issue on 3/17 and you reported back saying it was fine on 4/7. Did you use Inventor 2017 or Inventor 2018?

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/ansys-in-inventor/m-p/6742315#M623254

Inventor 2018 was not released for download until 3/21. I think you were on Inventor 2017 and it should work. You are probably on Inventor 2018 now but Ansys Workbench 17.2 does not support Inventor 2018.

Many thanks!

Ok, problem solved. Here's what happened in my case. I had Inventor 2015 for a long time and decided to uninstall it and install Inventor 2018 after it was released. I had ANSYS 17.2 at the time. I did that CAD configuration thing in ansys and the add-in worked fine. Later I installed ANSYS 11 and then ANSYS 17.2 and the add-in started to malfunction. I uninstalled Ansys 11 and 17.2, and then reinstalled 17.2 and did that CAd configuration thing and everything is working fine. So I guess I can't use 2 versions of ANSYS and the add-in.

Thanks anyways for your quick replies!
