Angled Bend controlled by equation

Hi all,

I am designing a plate with constant thickness with an angle of 120 degrees.

Just wondering how i generate the dimension for the outer fillet on the angled bend to be controlled by an equation - ie the inner fillet radius + plate thickness (changes made to the inner fillet or plate thickness should change the outer fillet.

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the Community!

Can you share an example image of what you are trying to achieve, so the gurus here can help you get the best results?  Or maybe your part file so far?  It's also a good idea to always share what version of Inventor you are using.  Thank you!

You didn't Attach your *.ipt file here?

You can easily write a Parameter for this, but the Sheet Metal Tools already do this for you!

Sheet Metal Styles

That's the automatic way.

The manual way - create a Parameter...

Depending on if this is going to be a welded assembly or a cast piece etc. You may need to make each part independently, using sheet metal commands which do this already. But as for the rad, you could just sketch the cross section of the bent piece, place in the rad and use an offset which would then do what you want by either setting inside/outside rad and then midplane extrude. Hope that helps.

Hi @grahamchristopher008,

I don't know how you modeled your part but I can say that it is possible to put equations in your dimension.

You can look up what parameter names the thickness and inner fillet radius have. For example:

Thickness = d3 = 5mm

Inner filet radius = d7 = 3mm

Outer fillet radius = d3+d7 = 8mm

This way, if you change the thickness, the outer fillet will change too.

Hope this helps.
