Alternate Directory Install

I'm a high school student currently enrolled in a class that involves using Autodesk Inventor, currently I am working on a project and decided I could pick up unfinished work at home. My computer is more than capable to handle the program but it was built on the grounds of being able to load most programs on a secondary hard drive. My main boot drive only has 64gb of memory, of which I have only 5gb free (Its an SSD) while I have multiple other drive which I load other programs on. So today I downloaded the Inventor launcher (2015) and found it was 22gb, no problem, except it will not download to any other hard drive other than my boot drive.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so could you possibly help?

Hi @Anonymous Welcome to Autodesk Community!

Evenn you're trying to install the program to another drive, it still needs to use the Windows temporary file locations during installation. Check this article which might be of help: Out of Disk Space During Installation to Another Disk Drive.

hi did you download the package or just run the installer directly from the web? (you will find that it is best to download it first.)

either way, are you saying that you did not get any config. options when starting that installer?

if you have any problems finding the separate download start here...

Hi! If you only need to use Inventor, I don't think you need to install the entire Product Design Suite 2015 (22GB). Inventor Professional should be about 8GB by itself.

Thanks!

So, I found no real solution other than deleting or in my case moving larger programs to make space, I will see if I can move the installed program to a seperate hard drive but for now I am content.

did you try the download and subsequent install link that we noted?

you would need to uninstall your previous install though of course...

cheers.
