Alignment problem

When I make a simple rectangle, I am unable to use Vertical Constraint to center it to the plane. I get an error: "Adding this constraint will over-constrain the sketch."

What is wrong?

Try a horizontal constraint? Sometimes they are switched. Are you constraining to the mid-point of the line?

It's really any file I try this with.

I've attached a screencast to illustrate what's happening.

Sorry! Sorry, I realised I need to click the center of the line in order for the program to consider it for alignment to the plane.

Thanks for your interest, both of you.
