After scaling down a model, I found when I try and create a new sketch, the sketch planes are skewed to the origin planes of the model, making creating sketches based on part geometry very difficult. Any ideas on how to fix this? ( I have attached a photo below). The black cross (in the photo) should run parallel to the lines in my part as they do when I am not creating a sketch. I have tried editing the sketch axis coordinates systems but to no avail.

Is your sketch geometry constrained to the part origin? Can you upload the part so we can take a look at it?

Hi! Redefining the sketch coordinate should help the particular sketch. Please share the file. I would like to understand the behavior better.

Many thanks!

Hi

The algorithm selects axes based on existing geometry. If the automatic selection does not meet your expectations, you can set them manually - according to your preferences.

And here is the reason (existing geometry) for the confusion:

First, you have several sketches, starting with sketch 1 that are under constrained. Unless you have a really good reason to have those under constrained, make sure all of your sketch geometry is fully constrained.

Then sketch 13 has an invalid axis/origin error - fix that.

Sketch 19 and sketch 128 have dimensions to unresolved reference geometry - fix that.

Fix that stuff then, see if it behaves better.
