After pasting sheets to a drawing dimensions became inappropriate

Hi All,

I have a problem with Autodesk Inventor, I copied and pasted a sheet to a drawing from another. (because some sheets are the same). But every time when I do that got that failure with the dimensions, I can't put on new ones and can not see where it should be linked.

I use Inventor Professional 2020, and I got this problem.

Thanks for your help in advance!

Tom

Hi Tom,

It looks like the geometry that particular dimension is attached to was not copied or shown properly. If possible, please share the files here or with me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to understand the behavior better.

Many thanks!

Hi,

This technique did not produce similar behaviour for me.

But I see some potential causes you can investigate:

1) Do yo copy and past sheet within the same inventor project? If not there may be an issue with linking to different source for geometry. Are the model references for both sheets identical? (Model reference is per drawing file, and if there is already reference in target file for the part you are showing on the copied sheet it will be relinked. And it actual part/assembly files are not identical your dimensions will do exactly what you are seeing.

2)  Are dimension styles identical for both drawing files? Usually when you want to copy sheets it is the case, but worth checking just in case.

3) Does the sheet you are cooping have references to views on other sheets?
