Adding local mesh control drastically reduces stress

Hi,

I'm running an analysis on a mast for a solar panel and radio antenna to simulate wind loading.

My initial results were pretty poor with a minimum safety factor of 0.22.

I then added some local mesh controls around some critical points, according to the previous study, and the minimum safety factor was raised to 7.56

Great result... but in my mind a little red flag has gone up.
Should the stresses reduce this drastically just by refining the mesh in a few critical locations?

Thanks for the reply,

Any suggestion on how I can upload it?
I used pack n go into a zip file and it was still too large to upload with the original post, which is why I didn't include it.

I'll attempt to upload it when I get to work Monday, unfortunately it's currently the weekend here in Australia and I don't have the files.

Only the Part files (*.ipt) and Assembly file (*.iam) is needed.

This should be very small file size for the assembly in your image.

The analysis folder and it's content files is not needed. (These files can be quite large.)

The analysis is set up in the iam, and Inventor will automatically recreate the actual analysis files when the simulation is run again.

Thanks for that advice, those stress analysis files were the bulk of the file size.
