Add column in BOM showing parent assembly

Can anyone tell me how I could add a column to a structured BOM showing all levels that lists the parent assembly for each item?

If I have this, I can export the BOM as a spreadsheet, import into Visio and create a tree structure using Visio's organization chart function.

What I'm really trying to do is create a tree diagram of the contents of ain Inventor assembly.  If anyone knows how to do this, would you say how this is done?

If there is nothing in Inventor that can make this happen, is there something in Vault?

It sounds like you are wanting to know where the parts are "Used".  In vault. browse to your part and click on it.  In the lower window there is a History, Uses and Where Used Tab.  Click on the where used.  Clicking on the "+" will expand this list.

Select the intem in the lower pane, then click File > Print Preview. This gives you a way to print this our.  You can expand the rows here if you want.

There's nothing in Inventor that will do this.   Vault is one option as karthur1 as indicated.   Not sure which version of Inventor you are using but there's a BOM extraction tool on CBLISSS website (http://www.cbliss.com/inventor/iCode/BomXTractor.htm) that will extract an indented BOM to Excel for you.   It hasnt been undated in years but I've run it successfully on Inventor 2013/Win 7/Office 2003/Office 2007.  Its been a few years so I don't remember if this program had a column showing the parent assembly information.   Try it and see.
