3D Printing using inventor

Been using Inventor 2015 for making STLs which go to Print Studion then to a Dremel printer. No problems until updated to 2018. Now circular shapes are chunked into primitive flats along the curve or radius. Help?

Mike,

When exporting to STL or OBJ, you need to change the export options to finer mesh. However, regardless how fine the mesh is, it is triangular mesh and it is not a real circle. Some software may create an illusion that the mesh looks smooth but it is not real. Try changing the export options to finer mesh and see if it works better.

Many thanks!

Hi Mike,

It is caused by stl export default resolution option. In order to make a better export performance, the option is set to Brep, so it you want a better quality, please switch to Medium (Inventor 2015 default) or High for 3D print purpose, hope it helps!

Go to export dialog, select stl format, Options, and check Medium, do what you did in Inventor 2015.

Thanks

Hi Mike,

Go to export dialog, select the stl format first, then, click the option below, you will get the dialog.
