3D PDF - part is invisible but solid body is visible

Hello everyone!

I have trouble exporting my assembly to a 3D PDF file.( Inventor 2019)

I have several detail views and I turn off the visibility of a part AAA in the TR_CO view.

But when I export 3D PDF( 3 detail views), this AAA part's solid 1 is still visible.

I try to update the new 3D PDF template in the link below but the problem still happens.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Selec...

But if I export only 1 view, then everything is fine, Part AAA is completely invisible.

Can anyone please help me how to solve this problem?

Really appreciate any helps.

Mirt,

Do these options make a difference?

Try clicking 'all entities'

Hi James,

I have just tried "All entities" and the problem remains the same.

But there is a strange thing that in the preview panels ( where we can see mini images of the views at the bottom)

the part AAA is not shown up, but when I click to change the view, the part AAA is shown up in main window.

This problem happens 2 computers in our company. So I think this may be not a bug

Hi! I suspect this is a design view related defect. If possible, please share an example here or send it to me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to understand the behavior better.

In the meantime, please make sure the latest applicable Inventor update has been installed.

Many thanks!

Hi Mr. Johnson,

Thank you for your reply.

Right now I am working from home so I have no authority to share the files.

But I also realized that my Inventor is not updated to the latest version ( right now is 2019.4 build 330) so this may be a problem too.

For this assembly that have a lot of parts(108 parts), the problem happens.

But with the assembly that have less than 20 parts, everything is good.

So right now, we have no choice but using Step file.

I will check this post again once we install the newest version.

Thank you!

Dear Mr. @johnsonshiue and @SharkDesign

So our boss has the answer for this problem.

Let's me explain a little bit about our company.

We use Inventor ( Japanese language) and the 3D pdf template ( English).

So it doesn't support special character, as you can see in my image in previous post:

The word "solid" has been changed into "ソリッド", which makes this solid visible even though the part visibility has been turned off.

Now, after we renamed the solid, everything works flawlessly.

Have a nice week!!!

Hi! Many thanks for sharing the findings! I am wondering if you use a Japanese 3D PDF template, the behavior would be different. It should work without having to rename the solid bodies.

Thanks again!

Hi Mr. Johnson,

I think the same too but right now we don't have any plan to make 3D pdf template (and we don't know how to).

Because when we switch between Japanese and English version, most of the features and solid names are changed depend on which version we are using and vice versa. So this may be just a special case.

However, if the problem keeps happening, I think we must consider making a custom template.

Thank you!

Hello Mr. Johnson.
I have a last Inventor version 2023 and still have the problem with 3D pdf export (right - presentation).
Inventor version is English, and all names in English too.
In pdf file I see hidden Solids (Body As Work Surfaces).
I send my example assembly and 3D pdf file to your e-mail.
Thank you.
