2021 Problem - Export Parts List to Excel using Template

Anonymous
Not applicable

In 2021, when exporting a Parts List to excel using a Template, Inventor is ignoring/overwriting the templates format. I have used the same process & templates for a while now, at least since Inv 2019, with no issues until the 2021 release.

see attached screen shots for an example.. each spreadsheet was created from the parts list shown.

Hi! It sounds like a bug to me. Could you share an example with me directly (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com)? I would like to work with the project team to find out where the problem is.

Many thanks!

Hi! Just to provide some update to the issue. As I replied to you in the email, the issue is indeed confirmed and it has been logged as INVGEN-41716. Fortunately, there is a workaround bypassing the behavior. Please go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Environment variable. Add a variable called "UseLibXL" and set the value to "False." Please try it and see if it works better for now.

Many thanks!

Hi @johnsonshiue

I have tried the work around as posted but is still not working. Any idea why?

Hi Donald,

I guess we have a separate issue then. If you have access to Inventor Feedback Community, a testable 2021.1 build should be available soon. Please try it out and see if the issue is fix. I recall it is indeed fix there.

Or, please share the files with me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to try it on my machine.

Many thanks!

Hi @johnsonshiue

Sorry about the late reply. I don't have access to the Inventor Feedback Community that I know of. How do I?

I will see if I can get something together and send to you in the next couple of days

Cheers

Donald

Hi Donald,

I do believe the issue has been resolved in the coming 2021.1 update. But, just in case, it is better to check on the build. You can sign up Inventor Feedback Community (https://autode.sk/InventorBeta) and try it yourself.

Or, you can send the files to me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I can take a look and report back my findings.

BTW, the workaround I mentioned above may not work for certain cases.

Many thanks!

Hi.

I did the tutorial on https://clintbrown.co.uk/2020/07/18/export-formatted-parts-list-with-ilogic/

I have the latest update for Inventor 2021.1.2

And i still have the problem that the partslist will not be placed in excel.

Clint Brown says that it must be working in Inv 2021, but with me its not.

Hi! Maybe there is a separate issue. If possible, please share the files with me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to understand the behavior better. Also, I can try on our latest internal build targeting 2021.2.

Many thanks!

Hi! I took a quick look at the iLogic rule. It seems to get stuck at "oPartsList = oSheet.PartsLists.Add(oDrawingView, oPlacementPoint)." I don't understand why this statement fails.

Many thanks!
