2019 Graphics Issue Multiple tabs at once

I am having a very annoying graphics issue in Inventor 2019. I am new at the company and I am using a brand new work station so I don't think it as an update issue. It has been happening since I started as well.

My issue is that sometimes when I flip between inventor tabs, about an inch and a half of the bottom and right hand side of my window will not switch tabs, and will show the previous tab still. I can usually fix it by relaunching Inventor. But sometimes it only fixes it for a couple minutes, and sometimes it doesn't fix it at all. I thought it may be a graphics card issue?

But I looked into it, and my graphic card is over the minimum requirements and just under the recommended, and I looked at the performance tab on task manager and my GPU doesn't seem to be causing a bottleneck. Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? I have attached a photo for reference. I cant attach a model because it happens with every model, so the issue is not with the files.

Welcome to the Autodesk User's Community..

What is your card?   What is its driver date?   What is your operating system?

What updates have you applied to Inventor 2019?

That is a common misconception.. Often times drivers are quite old due to a company attempting to maintain a "certified/repeatable" system setup.

This certainly screams "graphics card issue" and the first step there is to update your graphics card driver to the LATEST version from the graphics card manufacturers site.

I would bet that will solve this issue..

When a new version of Inventor comes out always update your graphics drivers too at that point..

Ok.. good...

Go to tools..application options...hardware tab and check "use software graphics" then restart Inventor and try again..

Did the problem go away?

If so try going back to a bit older driver (and then uncheck the use software graphics button and restart again).. Most times the latest driver works the best but there are a few cases where that doesn't apply..

This seems to have fixed my issue, but it has slowed down my inventor alot. I cannot work with any equipment layouts or large assemblies

@jinglisVMSZQ  Yes... The "use software graphics" is just a tool to use to diagnose a graphics driver related issue and should not be used all the time..

Having that on causes performance issues as well as just indicates the problem is driver related..

As stated try to roll back to an older driver (and turn software graphics off/restart Inventor) and see what works.. You may just need to run a driver from last year or something and all will be good again..

Hi! The issue does sound like graphics card related. Please make sure there isn't particular optimization or acceleration option for the given graphics card. Also, make sure you install all critical Windows updates and Inventor 2019.4 update.

Many thanks!

No dice. Tried rolling back the driver. no luck. then I noticed there was an optional driver update released the other day. I tried that, this also did not work.

everything is up to date. How do I check for optimization/acceleration?

Hi! Does the graphics card vendor come with an application to configure the graphics card? You want to select CAD profile (not for video games).

Many thanks!

I wanted to give it a few days to try the new configuration. It works a lot better when I changed the configuration but is still persisting at times.

As of yesterday it is back to the same issue. Not sure why it stopped for a while.
