2019 - Assign Appearance to Named Geometry

Is there a way to assign an appearance to named geometry?

For instance: Let's say that I have a box with named geometry (top, bottom, etc.), and I've set up multi-level parameters listing available appearances for each (top, bottom, etc.). I'd like to be able to link the selected appearance parameter to the geometry named "top", and have it update the box's top appearance.

I know I can do this manually, but I'm trying to use it in another way... Thanks.

Hi! I bet you can do it using iLogic rules.

Many thanks!

Yeah, that was my thought as well. I just don’t know how to access the “geometry name” asset.

When you say you have a box, is it a part or assembly? I'm not following what you are meaning when you say you have "named geometry". Can you explain? Are you creating multi-body with an individual solid as the top, bottom, etc? Or, is named geometry referring to features?

It’s a single part. You can now right click on a face and name it. This shows up in the illogic tabs as named geometry.
