2 angles in 1 sweep

I'm a student and am currently working on a rollercoaster design. I wanted to create some more difficult track pieces in inventor but failed. I tried to create a "hill" with an angle of 30 degrees at the top and back to 0 at the bottom. With a sweep there is only 1 angle to enter, so the angle is at the end of the hill. I tried making it in 2 pieces, first half of 30 degrees clockwise, second half 30 degrees ccw. But this causes the rail to not go smoothly. So is there an option to eg set a first angle at a specific distance of a sweet and a second one at the end? Or just a way to make it smooth?

What measuring instrument will be used to measure this distance in the real world>

Why are there no dimensions on 3DSketch8?

Isn't 3DSketch8 really 2D geometry?

This point has been accidentally shifted at the beginning of my sketch and will not be used for any purpose. Also, I originally made a sleight bent to the left (in 3Dsketch8) so I had to use 3 dimentions. I then changed the "shift" to a straight line within the 3D sketch to make it easier to work with.

Then I would get rid of it.

Does the Attached file match your Design Intent?

It does not completely match my intent. Like I said in my first message, I want to try and get the track to be at an angle of 30 degrees at the top of the hill but straight at both the end and beginning.

Can you post a hand sketch of your intent?

Here you can see my sketch of the part I tried to make. Its very similar to the second picture in my first comment but then smoothed out. I hope this makes my intent more clear.

Please note that the dimentions in the picture from your first message should always be respected. In the top left sketch you can see the "tubes" or so called rails are pivoted around the center (big) tube, and not just shifted top right.

Could you please try and make the side view from this part like I sketched it, so that everyting is smooth? Keep in mind that this is a rollercoaster track piece so that the rails should be always at the same distance from eachother and from the middle "tube".

I decided to give this a try.  After a few failed attempts with the twisted sweep I decided to go with the 'cross sections on planes' method.  It's a little heavy on the work geometry and could certainly be refined.  I enjoy making things adjustable so there is an iLogic form to adjust the overall length, the bank angle, and the hill height.

Thanks a lot for your attempt. I kept trying yesterday and ended up getting a result using 3 different sweeps going trough 3 points. But i will use your file in the future!

Hi Alexander,

I believe this has something to do with the Orientation control in Sweep. The original sweep seems to rotate along the path. To ensure consistent orientation, you can create a surface as a guide. Here is a simple example to see the effect.

1) Open the part.

2) Make XZ plane visible.

3) Edit the sweep -> Orientation -> Guide -> pick the XZ plane as the guide.

You will see the two smaller circular profiles no longer rotate along the path.

Many thanks!
