Get the Sketch Name consumed by all parameters

Hi All,

Im trying to access the consumed by property of the parameter...

As The Help API describes the parameter Object with a few possible options:

Parameter.DrivenBy() as ObjectCollection

Parameter.AttributeSets As AttributeSets

Then Attributesets.Parent()...

None output a string for the name... i want to iterate through...

This is my the code (ilogic)

Hello @cencinaNB2ET, 

para.Dependents represents the Consumed by parameters. There is possibility that one parameter is consumed by multiple others, so that Parameter.Dependents returns object collection instead of one single parameter. 

We can get the name of the consumed by parameter like this: 

para.Dependents.Item(1).Name

Try and catch may be needed since it is also possible that some parameter is consumed by no one else.

Ok I thought it was a collection of objects. but do I find by consumed by name?

Im i declaring something wrong?

How about changing this line, 

From: 

For i = 1 To ConsumedBy.count - 1

To : 

For i = 1 To ConsumedBy.count

Not Sure what is wrong... 

I want to narrow my search to  a sketch name

in this case : "NF Hole Sketch 2"

Cant seem to access the Object Collection of dependents...

hi,

When you use dependents, DrivenBy an inUse properties, it return to object collection but no properties "Name" in objeccollection.

and if you get objectCollection type, its return to weak object.

I think we cant get Name of consumed feature/sketch method at parameters.

To find the parameters used by a feature you can use .createdbyfeature.parameters, i do not know if you can find the parameters consumed by a sketch:

For Each sb In oPartDoc.ComponentDefinition.SurfaceBodies

      ' this contains the collection of parameters consumed by the feature. 

      sb.CreatedByFeature.Parameters

Sorry for the inconvenience.

There is an issue here: Dependents of user parameters can return correctly, while that of model parameter returns blank object collection even there should be something in there. It has been tracked in our issue system.

I worked around it by analysing the "d400" name sequentially, and separating them accordingly.

Its working for my purpose now.

I will try this in the next two weeks when I get some time off.

like I said I have a workaround but I foresee this problem coming up again soon for another process.
