Student License Activation issue: Serial Number being 13 digits

Dear Student  License customer,

 

 

There is an issue with generating the Serial numbers in 13 digits instead of 12 digits for the student version.

While ADSK is solving the issue, we advise the customer to either wait for the solution or try our 30 days free trial version if you never used it before.

We apologize for the inconveniences and appreciate your understanding while we fix the issue.

Hello Kiyomi,

 

Is there an estimated time for resolution of this issue?  Is this a fix that is expected to take on the order of hours, days, or weeks?

 

Please understand that my intent is not to pressure anyone for a fix.  I'm simply trying to figure out what my options are.  (Yes, I have downloaded the free 30 day trial version of Inventor, but this is for the 2018 version, and my school still uses the 2015 version -- I'm not sure what compatibility issues, if any, I may encounter.)

Inventor is not backwards compatible. If you use Inventor 2018 you will not be able to open them with Inventor 2015 at school.  Not sure why you didn't request Inventor 2015 when you made your student account.

Thanks for the compatibility information.

 

I did, in fact, request Inventor 2015 with my student account, but, as Kiyomi's posting indicated (and to which I replied), student accounts are currently being generated with erroneous 13-digit serial numbers instead of the standard 12 digits, thus preventing license activation.

 

Are you saying that I could request Inventor 2015 for the 30-day free trial?  That would be helpful.  I didn't see an option for that, but I could have missed it.

Prior to the 2017 release, when you installed you could select 30 day trial in the installation.  But when you go to launch it should tell you, you have "X" number of days left.  Select run instead of activate.

Hello everyone,

 

Update.

 

Now the system that issues the serial numbers for the student version has been fixed.

Any new customer who will request a student licence will not encounter the issue.

 

Customers with 13 digits Serial Numbers:

 

The team is validating a few options at the moment.  Stay tuned.
