Specify the license server

Hello,

i have created a deployment "Mechanical 2017" with network license server. I tested it on VM in Germany and it worked. Our license server are physical in Germany and our main site is in Germany.

The deployment is for my collegues in the US. Roll out worked but when i first start Autocad, i get the message "specify the license server".

I entered the name of the server , port and name of theserver, port an ip of the server and i always got the message "Flexnet License has completed"

But then the next message is "could not obtain a license...." and Mechanical is shut down.

I have done the entry"ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE" in the registry", i checked the LICPATH.lic-File also the LGS-File.

Also i coul "ping" the server without a problem.

Could there be a problem with the windows firewall which blocks the connection or do i have another entry in a file?

Thanks for support.

First question..  Do you have a global license agreement with Autodesk or a subscription with ETR rights?  If you don't..  US based machines cannot be using license that are located in other countries.  Or basically, another country cannot be accessing license that were purchased in other countries without this right.  So before you go any further you need to make sure if you have it or not.

Hi Mark,

we don`t have global license. We have license with ETR. Via Optionfile we ensure, that only the US-Collegues can use the US-License. We have also an agreement with Autodesk an practice this for a long term by now.

Also we have installed several installations before, but now got the problem of licensing.

Do you have an idea?

Best regards!

So a few more questions..

Has the US location gotten a license before from your license server?  Or is this something new?  Can the US end user ping the Germany server?  If the firewall is enable at the US end user location, disable and test?   Also you may also need to add the flexlm_timeout variable as well.

Update:  Also what does your option file look like?  Has that been updated to the correct license syntax code or look like this

Hi Mark,

our US location gets already licenses from our license server.  I have tested "ping" already, it was ok. We have shut down firewall already, but also this didn`t remove the problem.

The flexlm timeout we already set with setup.bat on 300000 as mentionend in several autodesk forums.

We are going to try a new installation on another pc. Just for testing. We also going to check the port for the license server.

The option file is already updated with the correct license syntax. As i mentioned in my first post, i have done the deployment on a virtual machine, tested it without any errors.

Thanks for your input.
