Some Products Fail to Install, Result 1603

Issue:  When installing your Autodesk product, the installation fails immediately and the screen indicates that Installation complete. Some products failed to install. 

The link to the installation log file in your %TEMP% location shows that the failure is due to a prerequisite installer similar to this entry below:

Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable (x86) Failed Installation aborted, Result=1603

Subseqent attempts to install the product yield similar failures. 

Solution #1:  In some rare instances, the prerequisite cannot installed until the workstation is rebooted, or cannot be installed by the Autodesk installer and must be installed manually from the media or by downloading the prerequisite directly from Microsoft's website.  For more information about this solution, please visit this Autodesk KB link:

Solution #2:  In most instances, the installation fails because the prerequisite already installed on the workstation is newer than the one supplied by the Autodesk installer.  Because Windows will not allow an older version of the prerequisite to be installed, the installation aborts with a 1603 error in the installation log file. 

The most direct method to resolve this issue is to remove the installed prerequisite from Windows from within the Control Panel.  You can launch the Control Panel directly from the Start Menu or from the Run box by typing CONTROL and clicking OK. 

To remove a program in Control Panel choose:

Windows XP: Add/Remove Programs

Windows 7:  Programs and Features

Locate the program name of the prerequisite that is failing in your log file from within this list and click Remove or Uninstall.  This will remove the program from your computer. 

Once the program has been removed, run your Autodesk installer again.  If you run into additional failures on prerequisites, repeat the process.  You should now be able to fully install and run your product.

Note:  When installing Autodesk products, it is recommended that you have local Administrative rights, User Access Control (UAC) is off, and your real-time anti-virus program is temporarily disabled. In some instances it may be helpful to login as another user with local admin rights and/or copy the contents of the media to you hard drive and install locally.

1603 error is a common error.  you will need to do the following:

Steps to install Autodesk software Worst Case Scenario:

Stage 1:
1. Start with clean computer (Windows 7 OS ONLY! - NO ANTI-VIRUS, ANTI-MALWARE, MS OFFICE, .NET, C++, ETC.)
2. Install Autodesk BDSU 2013 normal

Stage 2
(If Stage 1 fails...)
1. Remove ALL Autodesk software CLEAN

2. Remove all files located at:
C:\Windows\Temp
C:\%User%\AppData\Local\Temp
3. Remove all .NET and all C++ Redistributable files (removing .net 4 extended then client profile)
4. Reboot system
5. Run .Net cleanup utility if necessary
6. Run CCleaner to clean up the registry
7. Install Autodesk software with NO Updates AND 1 software at a time
8. Verify installation of 1 product functionality
9. Proceed to install all other software 1 at a time
10. Verify installation of all products
11. Install updates to Autodesk software
12. Reboot system
13. Install Anti-virus/anti-spam/anti-malware software
14. Install Microsoft Updates as usual
15. Reboot system

Stage 3
(If Stage 2 fails...)
1. Gather installation log files
2. Write down all steps taken prior to getting to this point
3. Call Autodesk Technical Support

Alternative solution (in Windows 10) is to remove this folder (just renami it):

i'm guessing the 1619 error for 3ds max is similar to this? (direct X fails to install) Why is this like this? it shouldn't be that hard to make a simple software check. (i can understand old software but come on, 2016 products?) my laptop has everything upgraded to the most current plug ins available, i'd REALLY prefer not to have to go thru a lengthy work around, or downgrade only to upgrade them again. that's just really poor design,

Hi, im not that tech smart so please can you not responde with difficult words and easy step by step if you could, i can not understand any of the prior infrmation submitted. im sorry. 

i needed to download the maya education softwhere for class work. i had this on my old laptop and it worked fine and i dont think its down to any probems with this laptop. But when i downloded the softwhere like last time it abruptly said it had finished downloading and said some files didnt download and there were X's on all of them. Im trying to get Maya 2015 from the free for education page.

i have just got this laptop tday so i havent got anything bad downloaded to be coruptive.

im not sure what is going on. Please can somene help.

Error 1603 is a common error.  From your installation log files it looks like you are trying to install Autodesk Network License Manager software during your Maya installation process.  Are you installing this as a standalone or a network based installation?  If it is standalone, you would not see the Network License Manager software being installed on a desktop operating system.  Also, error 1603 usually means there is a conflict between the C++ and .NET files on your computer and the same files on the installation software (installation software C++ and .NET files are older).

Do the following:

1.  Open Windows Explorer and type %Temp%...delete all files within this temp folder

2.  Go to C:\Windows\Temp and delete all the files within this temp folder

3.  Go to Control Panel, Add Remove Programs and remove all .NET and Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable files

4.  Turn off Anti-virus/anti-malware software

5.  Download the Autodesk Installation files for your Autodesk software again (assuming your installation files are corrupt):

          go to www.upandready.typepad.com

          use the Ask Virtual Agent button on right to open new Download Links window

          find your Maya 2015 product and download all files

          extract the files by double-clicking on the first one after all files are downloaded...the installation files will decompress to C:\Autodesk subfolder

6.  Setup.exe should start automatically

7.  Ensure you specify standalone installation...NOT network installation

8.  Proceed as usual during installation (Make sure you have web access during installation)

I tried to follow the best i could but may have lost you on the way beacuse i felt asthough i was uninstalling anythin fro mmy laptop at one plint.

some said to uninsatll microsoft c++ or something for my computer wich i did.  and then to run the file throgh administrator (?) wich i think i did.

this error just means you do not have web access during the installation.  make sure your computer has web access prior to installing the software and during the installation process.

it was on becuase i was doing other things on the internet so i dont see why it shouldnt be working?

is it because i have macfee could thta be blocking its download?

im worried about removing it though since the only reason i have a new laptop was that the last one was full of bugs and viruses.

but if it is the problem do you know of anyway to temperllay disbling it till i get the download?

am i close to completing the downlaod?

I'm trying to install Maya 2016 and Maya 2015 but always appears an error "Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x64) Failed Installation aborted, Result=1619".

I removed and installed Microsoft Visual C++, disable McAfee and the error persists.

the error 1619 from your log files state they are not compatible so the installation failed.

you will need to uninstall all microsoft visual c++ files and .net files from your computer

reboot the computer

turn off anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc.

install the Maya software

after Maya installs, do a windows update for the updated C++ and .NET files

reboot

do a windows update again

start up Maya

activate and use

Am gonan try my luck here too, as I'm getting frustrated that I just can't seem to figure out the root of my problem and nearly tried eerything I could find in the internet.

First of all, my problem started with the latest windows 10 update, it messed up A LOT of my programs, many giving me a generic error like 0xc000007b and stuff like that, though most of the programs got around that with a uninstal and reinstal. However my Autodesk programs give me more headaches than just the reinstalling. 

First and foremost I can not uninstal it trough 'Programs and Features' and for some reason the unstalling process won't begin, but the uninstal tool from Autodesk it self works. So I did unstall it, clean uninstall and then redownload everything again and tried to install. But like most of the people here, mine also gives an installation failed error. After that max seems to be installed om my pc because when I restart the setup it says 3ds max is already installed but it's not showing up ANYWHERE on my computer and max files can't be opened either. So because of this I can't uninstall it or reinstall and I have to do a system restore, done 5 of those since last sunday.

I'll attach the error log of the latest try to this post but this is giving me migraines. I really dont know what to do anymore and I got an important deadline comming up next week. I am begging someone for help!

Getting some Autodesk software to function on Windows 10 is a bit difficult as most have seen.  In your situation, the best advice I can give to you based on everything you have tried is to restore the system back to a previous point in time using System Restore if that is possible.  If that is not possible, back up your data first, then do a complete restoration of your system (back to when you bought it).  If it is a DELL system, there will be an option to do this within a hidden partition on your hard drive.  Read your DELL documentation to do this.

If restoring your system back to that point is not feasible, use Windows Uninstall Tool to remove any/all Autodesk and other software you do not want on your system.  Then, restore they computer back to pre-Windows 10 if possible.  Then, install Autodesk software.
