I currently have two licenses. One for Revit 2017 and one for Revit LT 2017.

I just hired someone to help me with my projects but they will work from their home.

What would be the proper method to allow him to install Revit LT 2017 using my license? ... Do I give him my serial number? ... or is this a deployment issue?

Are these desktop or network licenses?

What type of license are these?  Is the machine they will be using company supplied or their personal use?

If the 2017 LT version is a standalone perpetual license with maintenance subscription then you can install using the same serial number (home use concept) that you have but the application can only be used 1 at a time.  Meaning you can't launch LT and this person working from home can't launch LT at the same time.

If is a term based (desktop subscription) license then you are only allowed to install it on company owned product.  However you would need to add this user to your Autodesk Subscription/Autodesk Account and assign the product to them.  But that also means he is the only one that can use it.

We are ok with the installation ...

What I am trying to understand is this: once it is on his computer, what is the proper way to activate the software using my license (I have 2, he is working for me from his home and I want to activate the software on his computer so he can use it). Do I give him my serial number? and product key? or is it something that is more deployment based?

I have (2) stand alone licenses for which I am the subscriber. One for Revit and one for Revit LT.

I am using the Revit one and I have hired someone to work for me and want them to use the software on their home computer.

Kinda flying by the seat of our pants at the moment trying to keep up ... Not familiar with working a network liscense, and it is just me and one other. Looking for the best way to collaborate with limited budget for the moment.

Still not enough info..

Stand alone as a perpetual or stand alone as a term license?  Are you paying a monthly, quarterly, or yearly fee for this application?  DId you just purchase the 2017 version recently?  Or did you get it as upgrade since you already have a maintenance or term license of this application before.

I own (2) stand alone subscriptions, one for Building Design Suite Premium and one for Revit LT.

If the 2017 LT version is a standalone perpetual license with maintenance subscription then you can install using the same serial number (home use concept) that you have but the application can only be used 1 at a time.  Meaning you can't launch LT and this person working from home can't launch LT at the same time.

This would work ... I don't even use that Software being that I use the full version. I was going to cancel the LT, instead I decided to hire someone to help I would like to use the license on their computer. We would not be using that license at the same time.

If is a term based (desktop subscription) license then you are only allowed to install it on company owned product.  However you would need to add this user to your Autodesk Subscription/Autodesk Account and assign the product to them.  But that also means he is the only one that can use it.

This is OK as well, the info I am looking for.

I will try this ...

I just want to do what is proper in respect to my liscensing agreement.

Currently I pay monthly, but will be moving to yearly ... this is for both.

I had a Revit LT monthly license and added a Building Design Suite Liscense to my account.

Since you have a term license, then you need to first add this user information (email and etc) to you Autodesk Account/Subscription.  However if this person has already been assigned to another Autodesk account/subscription or they have their own subscription, then it will not be possible for you to add them.  Activation for term licensing is based on Autodesk named account.

In addition I'm going to bring this back up (and I'm not 100% sure on it)...  Installing your software on a non-company asset may not be permitted.  I don't care what you do because I'm only a user but make sure you are not voliating any of the license agreement.

Update on my posting since I misunderstood some things (and just got clarification)..  Smiley Mad

You are able to install your software on the other users machine without any issued and even if their Autodesk ID is being assigned to another contract, you are still able to assign to yours.  Sorry for the confusion..

Yeah, just needed to set him up as a user in my account and assign the software to him.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
