Revit 2016 Installation - Error 1603

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I've been trying to install Revit 2016 Trial. I keep on getting the 1603 error when trying to install Base Material Library 2016. I'm attaching the installation log. I have followed all advice posted in other topics: uninstalling C++ redistributables, cleaning up Temp floder, logging in as super admin etc. Still no success. I  tried installing AutoCAD 2016 too and it also failed. Can it be due to some logs in the registry? I can see some keys left from previously installed Autodesk software, but I'm not sure what to delete. Many thanks for any help.

Hello bartek.arendt

The Error 1603 is a generic error given by the Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) when a problem occurred during the installation of your Autodesk product. This error is not specific to any particular Autodesk product, but tends to be specific to the system on which you are installing on.

  1. Conduct a Clean Uninstall of the program use MSfixitTool to complete the uninstall
  2. Log in as an Administrator
  3. Empty your TEMP folder. To open the TEMP folder, type %TEMP% in the address bar of Windows Start Menu and hit Enter
  4. Temporarily disable your Antivirus software & Firewall
  5. Temporarily disable UAC:  Windows 7Windows 10
  6. Autodesk Virtual Agent (download all the parts)
  7. You can run the software as a Trial by clicking "Try"

Hello @Anonymous,

Thank you for continuing to be a member.

Try to conduct the steps provided by Otto trying a clean uninstall & a Browser Download.

I see that your log shows a failer with Microsoft Visual C++ 2005, please uninstall the versions you currently have installed & install them on the Microsoft website below:

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable (x86)

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable (x64)

Hi Natasha,

I followed the instructions, but I still keep on getting the same error. I managed to install only Revit application by interrupting the installer before an attempt to install Material Library. Still, I have no access to any materials.

Hello @Anonymous,

Are you still experiencing this after a Browser Download?

Try taking a look at the "Event Viewer" on your Windows operating system by pressing the Windows Key or go to the Windows start & type in the search.

Also, check "Task Manager" to see if there are 3rd party software running in the background, disable or quit them.
