Program Failed to Install Due To Kaspersky

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have tried to install Maya 2017 on my Mac multiple time but I keep ending up to the message "Program Failed to Install". After researching a bit, I found that some users had a similar problem to me with 3DS Max 2017. I believe Kaspersky is causing the problem with the installation process. Someone in another post mentioned how to work around it (quoted below), but that is only for 3DS Max. I was wondering how I can have it work for Maya 2017.

"""    For everyone using Kaspersky and trying to install 3DS MAX 2017, to create an exclusion rule, open Kaspersky:

1. Open the application settings window.
2. In the left part of the window, select the Anti-Virus protection section.
(The anti-virus protection settings are shown in the right part of the window)
3. In the Exclusions and trusted applications section, click the Settings button.
(The Trusted zone window opens on the Exclusion rules tab)
4. Click the Add button.
(The Exclusion rule window opens)
5. In the Rule Description add the file or folder:
C:\Autodesk\WI\Autodesk 3ds Max 2017\x64\max\Autodesk\3ds Max 2017\python\DLLs\_ssl.pyd        """

Thanks in Advance

Welcome to the community..

A couple of things.

Thank you for sharing your solutions since Kaspersky Anti-virus has been known to cause issues with Autodesk Applications.

However your solution is based on using the web installer to install your products.  Meaning you and others really need to use the Autodesk Virtual Agent method.  Unless you are installing a non-common Autodesk Product or the 2018 version of the applications.   If you use the Autodesk Virtual Agent, it just downloads the full software to your machine in a compressed state and then you extract it to get the full install media.  The web installer (like the one you used)..  Is downloading and installing at the same time which is most likely why you Anti-Virus application was block it.

I think me quoting the "solution" steered you away from my question. The solution shown there is for 3DS Max only. I don't know how to get it to work for Maya. And I forgot to mention that I turned off my firewall and downloaded it from the virtual agent during the installation process every time.

I want to know what the exclusion rule for Maya is in Kaspersky if....

C:\Autodesk\WI\Autodesk 3ds Max 2017\x64\max\Autodesk\3ds Max 2017\python\DLLs\_ssl.pyd

is for 3DS Max only.

You are right..  I missed that..  Sorry about that.  Smiley Sad

Post your installation log file for Maya installation and we can review it to see what's wrong.
