Point Layout licensing error

I recently upgraded a user's version of AutoCAD & Point Layout from 2017 to 2018. When I launch AutoCAD and attempt to retrieve a network license using Point Layout, I get the following error:

layout 2:1 error.

licensing error.

How do I resolve the error?

Thanks,

Ranel Laroco

Did you update your license file to contain the 2018 licenses for Point Layout?

Try the following:

  1. Open the registry editor and navigate to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\FLEXlm License Manager
  2. Find the ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE key and change the value to the following:
    @servername;@serverip
    • The @ sign is required, just change the name & ip accordingly. We want to specify both the server name and the ip address of that server.
  3. Once that's complete, try launching the application again.

Hi Darin,

I made the changes to the values as you recommended and it still does not work. I still get the same licensing error.

Thanks,

Ranel

@ranell

Navigate and run this application "C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\Autodesk Point Layout 2018\APL_Addon_Register.exe"

While in the application change the license type to Network as shown in the image below.

Hi Darin,

This is one of the first things I did before posting the question on this forum. I even switched the licensing type to standalone, saved and switched it back. Still not working.

Thanks,

Ranel

@ranell,

Run your license file through Autodesk License Parser to see if you have point layout licenses. Point Layout can only use a license from Point Layout & MEP Fabrication Suite. If you don't have either of these licenses within the file, point layout will not obtain a license.

Hi Darin,

Since Point Layout does not get used often, the company only has a single user license which resides on the server for users to use when needed. Normally when Point Layout is launched it asks for the location of the license server, but it is not even getting to that point. Should I still launch the license parser so to see if it asks me for the location? I'm not at the site today, but I can try it on Monday.

Thanks,

Ranel

I thought you were using network licensing. Since you're using a single user license, change the license type to Standalone.

Once that's complete, reset the license cache by performing the following steps:

Close all running Autodesk applications, then go to these locations and remove the following:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ADUT—Delete the ADUT folder.
C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet—Delete all files that start with adskflex.
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Web Services— if exists delete LoginState.xml.

Hi Darin,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I had to wait for the user to have some free time for me to work on this laptop. I tried what you asked by switching Point Layout to standalone and resetting the license cache. Still no luck.

Thanks,
Ranel Laroco
