Hi there my fellow Autodesk product users!
For the last few days I've tried to install a student version of Autodesk Navisworks Manage 2021 and it constantly gave the particular error (code: 1402) indicating that the installer is unable to open a specific registry key.
I've already tried delving into registry editor on my machine but ended up not finding the specified key so I wonder what the heck? Why would it ask me for permission to access the key that doesn't exist in first place?
I've also tried to simply give a full control permission for the entire CLSID map and set User Account Control Settings to Never Notify. That didn't help solving the puzzle.
Does anyone have an idea of what may be causing the issue? If you do please share. Thank you in advance.
i recommend to install last version like 2020 or 2019 that's more helpful
This sounds like a user rights issue; you should have at least local admin rights for the install, dial down UAC to the lowest level (already mentioned), and pause any anti-virus.
I've done all that before posting here. Nothing seems to be working for me. OR..Maybe there's a workaround for giving access to all of the keys for all users on my machine? But again it yields me a message about the key that does not exist in first place. And that's kinda weird. This is 4th app from Autodesk i've tried to install already and only this one gave me headaches.
Hi, I have the same problem. I am trying to install Navisworks Manager (educational) but getting same error and nothing works. I have installed fewer versions before with a different educational account on the same computer but that programs stopped working. I would appreciate if someone can help.
The issue hasn't been solved. I've just found a workaround by logging in as a different user (not Admin!) and surprisingly managed installing the NW from there. Note that no actions have been taken in order to tackle the installation, simply pressed the Install button and it went through smoothly. So good news is I now have NW installed. Bad news is solution is yet to be figured.
BTW I have tried installing NW on my office device using both methods - no such luck.
