Models created with educational license as placeholders

Greetings!

this is my first post, so I do hope I have chosen the correct forum to post to. apologies if I have not, and I appreciate if someone would then direct me to the correct forum.

My question is this;
If I model something in Maya with an educational license, use the models as placeholders in an Unreal project, and remove these models before I eventually "sell" the game, Could I face licensing issues?

I am very aware that I am not allowed to sell a product that contains models created with an educational License, but I only intend for them to be placeholders, and I will remove anything related to these Maya created assets later in the pipeline.

@morten.kleppo, NO. You cannot use it for making profit.

In addition, You will not:

  • Remove any copyright, trademark, confidentiality or other proprietary rights notice from any Offering, Documentation or related material;

Have a look at this for more details..!!

Also,

  • Software and services accessed through the Education plan may be used only for purposes directly related to learning, training and research. They may not be used for commercial, professional or any other for-profit purposes.

Thank you for the quick reply!

It makes more sense now that i read it again. since the project will make money down the line, I have violated the license because the process in it self is for profit, even if the models are later removed and not part of the finished product.
Thanks again!
