I have the student version of Maya, trying both 2015 and 2016, and same problem.
When I open maya, all that pops up is a blank output box, no text or anything in it, just blank.
I got into my Reliability manager to see why it crashed, and I find this:

I have erased Maya from my entire computer, restarted and reinstalled both 15 and 16 and still get the exact same issue. I have searched the internet far and wide for solutions and I can't get it to work.
I have disabled several services, internet explorer, opened in different compatibility modes, administer permission and even went back on my drivers, nothing made a difference. I'm really desperate to get a solution, anything would help!

Hey guys!
After much much more trouble, I got a suggestion from a friend who noticed the WinTab32.dll was causing the crash. I located the file, moved it over to the desktop and restarted Maya. And it worked!
I have a tablet hooked up to my computer, and thus have wacom drivers, which I guess was interfering with Maya all of a sudden (despite never having a problem before!) Either way, I hope this thread helps some others in the future if it ever comes up again!
