Maya 2017 Student Licence Activation

I have used and installed Maya 2017 for a few months now and a few days ago a timer starting showing in Maya that I was on a trial period. I thought I was using my Student Licence but now it seems I cannot activate it?

I am kind of worried what happens when the trial runs out, as I'm working on my graduation project in maya, which will finish in December.

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Community!

Have you tried activating your Maya 2017 with the Student Serial Number and Product Key you obtained when you downloaded the software on Education Community ? And if so, what kind of error are you getting ?

In case you're unable to retrieve your Serial Number and Product Key, please follow these steps:

Find Serial Numbers & Product Keys for Educational Licenses

Something must've happened with your related license files.  You shouldn't have to request it again since your 3 yr license wouldn't have been expired yet.

Before requesting, reset your license by following these steps:

Please note, folders of C:\Programdata and C:\Users\[Username]\Appdata (listed below) are hidden folders and you may need to adjust your viewing settings.

First make sure you're signed out of the desktop app and A360 (both are located in your Windows system tray

On your computer, navigate to

2017 Version: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\<Product_Key>_2017.0.0.F  [<Product Key> is the product key of the application you have]

2018 Version: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\<Product_Key>_2018.0.0.F  [<Product Key> is the product key of the application you have]

Delete the LGS.data file.
Navigate to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ folder
Delete the ADUT folder and it's contents

When you start the application, it will prompt you to choose one (that matches your license) of the following:

Login - 30 day trial or CLIC (Cloud Based) licenses
Serial Number - Students, Standalone and Single-User Term Based activation
Network - Network License server for obtaining licenses from a machine on your network

Good luck and report back on your progress

Hi @Mark.Lancaster

Whenever I choose "enter the serial number" a new ADUT folder is created and the app crashes/ closes

PS I didn't find the LSG.data file in the product key folder... it was empty... i'm trying to install maya 2018 with a student license

Thanks in advance

Nope. It does not work for me. My educational license is still good for the rest of the year. I followed the directions. Once I click on the button to enter a serial number, the application just hangs. In the applications window (Apple Mac), it indicates "Maya (not responding" and it will stay this way indefinitely until I force quit the application.
