Japanese Language Pack for AutoCAD

Japanese Language Pack for AutoCAD

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

in my company two languages are used on a daily bases: Japanese and English.  Therefore, software has to be usable in both languages.

No problem with Revit LT:  Installing the Japanese language pack and changing the value of the command line option /language to JPN solves the problem:

  Revit.exe /language JPN

When it comes to AutoCAD LT, however, there are all kind of language packs listed on the following page

  - AutoCAD 2017 Language Packs
    https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autocad-2017-languag...

but none for Japanese.

Searching for a solution concerning to this page

  - Japanese language pack for AutoCAD

none is available...

No problem, I thought, and downloaded the Japanese Version.

But when trying to install it, the installer refuses to install AutoCAD LT with the remark that the Japanese version can be installed from the directory

  C:\Autodesk\WI\Autodesk AutoCAD LT 2017\x64\ja-JP\acadlt\AcadLTLP

Running the installer AcadLTLP found in this directory, however, results in the following error:

  Fatal Error
Installation ended prematurely because of an error

What can I do?

Thanks for your help,

Regards,

Dietrich

Hello diresub and welcome to the Autodesk community!

In order to manually activate your software (in cases where the activation appears stuck), please refer to Manually Activating Your Autodesk Software.

If the activation window is not displayed, others have resolved this by completely uninstalling and reinstalling their software. Please refer to How to Remove all Software from a Windows System for assistance.

In your Autodesk Account, do you see this for Acad LT

If you do, select it and then you should see this option..

The method you have selected is the Install now/Web installer..  Its unreliable and shouldn't ever be used.  Good luck and report back on your progress.

Update:

1. Download all of the parts (if more than 1 part indicated by the method above). Do not continue until all of the parts have fully downloaded.
2. Navigate to your download folder location and extract (double click) part _001_00X.sfx.exe (or the single file download).
3. In a few seconds the extraction will start and prompt you to extract to C:\Autodesk.
4. Once the extraction is finished, the installation will automatically start.
5. Follow the installation steps for your product

However if the installation does fail using this method, please post your installation log file here so we can review it.  Posting info: Sometimes installation log files contain personal information such as your serial #.  Prior to posting your log file please make sure to remove such info.

That because you're using the Install Now Options. Instead, use one of the alternative methods for downloading the software.

Hi Mark, hi Darin,

Thank you very much for you answer!

After uninstalling the English version of AutoCAD 2017 your method worked great for installing the Japanese version!

But - unfortunately - I now have the opposite problem:

When trying to install the English Language Pack, the installer is telling me that AutoCAD 2017 is not installed;

when trying to install the English version of AutoCAD, however, the installer tells me that AutoCAD 2017 has been installed already and that I am supposed to install the English language pack from the file in the directory ...en-us\acadlt\AcadltLP - which fails in the same way as before, when trying to install the Japanese language pack for the English version of AutoCAD 2017 (see the first email in this thread).

So I am facing the same wall as before...

I'll send you the log files in the two following posts: first the two log files generated during the attempt to install the English version;  then the log file generated when trying to install the Englisch language pack...

Thanks again,

Dietrich

Hi again...

...so here are the log files.

I fear, however, that neither of them is very informative...

...and here are the log files from my attempt to install the English language pack.

Thanks for taking the time to help me!

[Answering to my own question for future users with a similar problem]

Thanks to the great help of the service team we found the solution on the following page:

  - Different language versions of AutoCAD Plant 3D 2014 on one machine
    https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-plant-3d/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticl...

Here is the relevant content:

>> It is not possible anymore to install different language versions of AutoCAD ® Plant 3D 2014 on the same machine. You have to use virtual machines like VMWare or to use different machines to install different language versions of AutoCAD Plant 3D 2014. <<

As there is no Japanese language pack for AutoCAD and Japanese users have to install the Japanese version this means that on one computer it is impossible to use AutoCAD in Japanese and English (without un- and reinstalling AutoCAD or rescuing to virtual machines at least)...

This is, of course, not the answer I expected to find...

Cheers, Dietrich
