Inventor left out of AEC Collection?

I am wondering why inventor was left out of the AEC Collection?

As an MEP engineer we get a number of files from plant manufacturers that are from Solidworks etc, Inventor's Revit/BIM workflow enabled us to open, edit, and create Revit families.

Seems odd to leave a product out of a BIM collection that is part of the BIM workflow?

We the users have no control over what Autodesk does with making these products.   However if was my understanding that the collections were setup to just pinpoint products for a given field.   Like just for AEC or MFG.  When it cross fields like you are and need Inventor, Autodesk wants you to subscribe to more software.   Manufacturing customers could say the same thing about plant 3d and p&Id.   Meaning it's probably more of a mfg thing than a AEC field.

i also wondered this when Autodesk first made the announcement over the summer

I always said inventor should have been added to the AEC collection for all the customers who owned the Plant Design Ultimate Suite and actually used both Plant 3D & Inventor in their workflow

Sadly Autodesk controls what gets added to the collection

I am watching an Autodesk civil engineering community webcast right now. They are showing you how to create a drainage structure in Inventor first for use in civil 3D and Infraworks. It would help a lot if it was in the AEC collection!

you don't have to use full Inventor to use this

you can actually use Inventor LT which is much cheaper which is what was used in the webcast

Was thinking today after dealing with a supplier that it is actually a cruel but smart business decision from Autodesk as it is forcing companies that design their components in Solidworks etc to purchase Revit just to satisfy the BIM needs of its customers.

Ermmm....  Solidworks can export IFC files as far as I'm aware.  That's the norm for MCAD contributions to BIM projects.
