Here's the problem. I have windows 7 - 64 bit with 12 gbs of ram, an nvidia 1700, 512 meg video card and a kentsfield quad core processor. Once I input all the information for installation, it immediately fails, meaning, nothing is installed. I have a disc, not a download of Revit 2012. I have a log file and here is the erro:

For whatever reason, it's trying to install the C++ (x86) and I already have the (x64) version installed. Does anyone out there know what the heck is going on? This is really annoying and I can't for the life of me, find anything online about this particular problem. There was an error, 1603, but when I researched it, it didn't help as I removed C++ and tried to have Revit install it, but no dice. There was something that said I need to uninstall all of my C++ packages . . . is this the case? Really? What the heck are you guys doing Autodesk? Thanks for any help.

Sorry to hear about the installation issues,
VC++ runtime is a microsoft component which is required to run some Autodesk products.
If you can post this log file it might tell the exact reason for the failure
C:\Users\D_LEE~1.BMA\AppData\Local\Temp\vcredist_x86_2010.log
But the solution in most cases would be uninstall and reinstall VC++ runtime, from teh media or from Microsoft site

Please try to uninstall existing version of
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable,
Uninstalled both versions and now it appears that Revit 2012 is installing. I will let you know if it actually fucntions. Thanks.

Ok, now it starts to install, but then says something weird like this. I attached the error as a jpeg. The disc is brand new without any flaws on it, so I can only wonder if the disc is defective? I am goind to download the install package from Autodesk and see if I get the same error . . . I'll try to install on Friday, but if not, Monday and I'll let you know. I've never had problems installing Revit/Autocad on my work computer before, what the heck is going on?
Sorry to hear about the issues with installation,
Can you check if that files exists in the Media, if yes, please copy the media content locally and try to install from there. (downloaded installer is also file)
If the file is missing, you might need a replacement media.
Ok, I tried to copy the files over and it won't let me copy a couple over . . . says there's an error. Does that mean I need a new disc? If so, how do I get one sent out asap? Thanks.

Here's another issue. The first couple of times I tried to install after removing the C++, when it got to half-way installing, explorer closed and basically the installation got stuck and wouldn't really continue. Once I exit my installation, my explorer comes back . . . very strange. I will hopefully finish my download today.

Some part of the installation needs explorer process to be killed to make sure no files are in use, so that behaviour is normal
