Installation ended prematurely because of an error - Autocad 2015

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have been attempting to install Autocad 2015 - free student download. When the Autodesk AutoCAD Configure installation box pops up, there is a message that "AutoCAD 2015 is already installed. If you want to add the english language pack, you can install it from: (here it shows a location link). When I attempt to complete the installation after agreeing to the terms a new message pops up: "installation ended prematurely because of an error".

How do I correct this problem or do I need to uninstall and start over?

Thanks. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello msilverstri13 and welcome to the forum.

Looking at your errors I beleive there may be a partial install of the language pack leftover on your computer. Try using the microsoft install cleanup utility to see if it finds the AutoCAD language pack listed and if so, remove it. Here are the steps.

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall

1.) Click the "Run now" Button in the Fix-it box

2.) Accept the License Agreement

3.) Choose the option "Detect Problems and let me select fixes to apply"

4.) Select "Uninstalling"

5.) When the list of installed programs populates, select the one from the list you are unable to Re-install (Autocad 2015 English language pack in this case) and then click next and yes

6.) When the tool completes There may be remnants left so please delete the directory where the product was installed (under c:\program files\Autodesk typically)

once this is done try the product install again.
