Frozen AutoCAD Drawing Screen

Not applicable

Hi. I  just downloaded AutoCAD 2017 on my computer. I use the software at school, and really enjoy it. I needed to catch up on some assignments so I downloaded the student version for my personal computer (the software requirements fit my computer). After the software was done downloading, it opened on a blank drawing in AutoCAD. However, I cannot use the software, and it is frozen on that screen (blank drawing). I tried to close out of AutoCAD, and it just stays frozen. I clicked the close button 4 hours ago, and the software STILL remains open, and when I hover my mouse on the screen, it goes into a blue loading circle. I am very upset because I really enjoying using AutoCAD and I need to finish my assignments as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Hello loyearwooda33 and welcome to the Autodesk community!

It looks like you're seeing a blank screen after downloading your software. This issue typically occurs because Internet Explorer is either blocking or cannot connect to Autodesk registration servers. Access to Autodesk services is blocked by either IE, network, or proxy server security settings. The following article(s) should help you resolve the problem:

Register Today (Product Activation Wizard) blank except for two radio buttons

There must be a dialog box open in the background perhaps. Have you tried using Ctrl+Space bar to move the active dialog?

Thank you very much for your fast reply. Unfortunately, I still cannot get the software to run on my computer. The software did end up closing last night, but when I reopened it this afternoon, I got sent to the screen below. However, I cannot click anything and it will not let me start a new drawing, or even close out of the program again.

Is there any way to remove Autodesk from this computer because it keeps freezing up and not responding, so I can download it on another computer?
Thanks again for your help.

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Did you have another post elsewhere already? I would like to see what has already been suggested for you.

Please attach your install log (located in your user Temp folder). There is also an Installation Diagnostics tool you can run to help determine what might be happening.

Please also try adding the No Hardware switch to the startup of the application to see if that helps.

Please tell me about your computer and your operating system.

Prior to running AutoCAD 2017 did you install the service pack as well?

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Based on this information I've seen this issue a couple of times before.  Exit AutoCAD and use the Reset to Default in the Windows Start menu under the AutoCAD listing.  Here's an example of mine which is under AutoCAD Mech.
