Error while trying to activate autocad 2021

I am trying to activate autocad 2021 with a license that I have purchased but when I try to activate it it gives me the following error "This content cannot be displayed in a frame", after that it does not let me do anything and when I close the window it also closes the autocad window

The error persists on several computers and nothing I have done has worked, I have tried reinstalling Windows, updating drivers, the Autodesk license manager, I have also tried using another internet connection in case my ISP was blocking some Autodesk service but nothing worksimage (6).png

I'm having the same issue with Autocad 2024, contacted support but they didn't help.

  1. Check your firewall settings.
  2. Make sure you're using a licensed version of AutoCAD.
  3. Make sure you have a network connection.
  4. Global Use Rights Approved Country List, make sure you're listed.
  5. Proxy servers or VPN can cause issues.
  6. Reinstall but flush all cache data and appdata.

I did some searching and it seems the error is thrown by Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer has been deprecated for a while and should be disabled for Windows 10 and 11. There's still the IE-mode you can use in Edge, but you have to bent over to get it working.

Anyway, check if Internet Explorer is still around?

 

Edit: Can you click / select the window and then press F12 to show what's under water?

During this time, I found some explanation for the problem.
The problem is that after a clean install on a computer that did not have Autodesk products on it before, there is no specific set of cookies when the window opens. Therefore, the server does not accept the request. If you install a new product on a computer that previously had an activation system, it will work. But if you clear cookies in Internet Exlorer, this problem occurs and you will no longer be able to use the activation system.

BTW - activating using a serial number is out of fashion - but I'm not sure as of which version....

It is active even in the 2025 version there is a button to activate with a serial number, they give it to educational institutions as far as I know

Can you try reinstalling Google Chrome .. and and Edge:

Please then reboot and make sure all of the Windows updates and app's updates are installed.

 

Make sure you don't have a firewall on and try starting the software.

I'm having trouble using running the license transfer utility to export an AutoCAD 2021 perpetual license.  Same error screen as in original post when trying to enter Sign-In credentials.  I downloaded AdskLicensingInstaller-win-14.1.0.10619.zip, ran the installer and it created the folder  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Autodesk Shared\Adlm\R30.  The R30 folder does not have the LTU.exe executable.  If I run from the shortcut in the Windows Start menu, it still runs the old non-working utility from the R20 folder.  Where/how to get an updated LTU.exe?

I have the same problem. Reinstalled everything, even tried other computers on other networks. The issue is with autodesk.

Hi,

I have an educational license and 20 new workstations with autocad 2025, none of these  can activate the license because the frame is opened in old explorer browser not in edge or chrome. How can I solve?

Same issue with Revit 2023 here for me as well. I was able to activate half of my schools lab computers until a few days ago then all of a sudden the remaining computers can no longer access the auto desk sign in page with the same error. tried using a wireless hotspot to make sure it was not an issue with our districts firewall but the issue did not improve. The instructions provided by Project Lead The Way insist that we use serial based activations for our education institutions.
