Eagle and Fusion 360 Startup license -- are my files private?

Hi, I am in the process of evaluating a Startup license for Eagle and Fusion 360.

I have 2 questions.

1. Are the files I create available for others to view, or are they private? Obviously many startups would not want their designs made publically available. This question applies to Eagle and Fusion 360.

2. Are the files easily downloadable? My initial playing with Fusion 360 suggests that the developers have deliberately made downloading files difficult.

Many thanks in advance for any help and clarification.

Thanks Pendean. The link you provided provides other links about cloud security etc. My question was not about cloud security however, but user permissions to our files.

What I am asking is this. If we use Eagle and Fusion 360 on our PC, are our files (under normal circumstances) available to anyone else?

I guess the answer is "yes" since Autodesk people could access them, and "no" to everyone else.

Thanks.

Hi @rob.ward.nz,

If you want airtight security because your plans need to be even safer than in a datacentre, which is already pretty secure then Fusion 360 (or any cloud offering) may not be for you. However, Autodesk has already indicated that in their privacy policy and TOS that they won't access their data unless you let them in (eg tech support) or they are compelled to do so.

Otherwise, unless someone compromises your account or compromises your physical device they'll have a very hard time getting to your files.

Hi LeoWarren34, thanks for your reply.

I'm not as paranoid as you suggest LOL, or at least I hope I'm not. Well, not regarding Autodesk at least.

My understanding (perhaps incorrect) is that the free version of Fusion 360 makes all of your files public. That was part of the deal, as I understood it.

Anyways, it is good to hear that "Startup" at least is not like that.

🙂
