DWG TrueView 2020 installation failed

I got the same error code (1603) with earlier versions (2019 and 2018) too, and I tried all the solution, what can I found on the support forum and elsewhere. I attached my error log file and the AIDA html report. Please help. Thanks.

Hello @jorgosz.bacsosz

The 1603 error is a installation error that has a variety of causes & is usually followed with a blanket statement like, "Unknown Error has occurred".

Although, I do see in your setup log & the error occurred right after the temp folder was accessed.

The system temp directory is not clean. This is the temp directory that setup extracts files to and runs from. Either the temp directory does not have an adequate amount of available space, or it has too many files that may conflict with setup files.

Clean the default temp directory and free up hard-disk space by removing unneeded files.

  1. On the Windows Start menu, enter %TEMP% in the "Search programs and files" edit field.
  2. In the Temp folder, press CTRL+A to select all the files and folders contained in the Temp directory and delete them.
  3. Perform a Clean Uninstall to remove any residual files and folders from previous installations.
  4. Attempt to install the software again with Download Now option.
    • If the application fails to uninstall try using the the Microsoft Fixit tool

I tried every possible solution earlier what you wrote. I tried again, nothing helped. Lots of same issue with AutoDesk products on the Internet. Why are you not able to fix it and make an usable installer?! Any idea?!

Nothing changed, not necessary new logs with same content.

But to find a solution we need all log files. You have posted only the setup.log file from the setup.exe program, but not the MSI log file from the dwgviewr.msi, which produces the error.

This log file is located in the %temp% folder of the user which run the setup.exe.

Look for a MSI*.log file.

I attached the requested log file.

Other info: if I removed the Cumulative Update KB4493509 (for Windows 10 1809), the installation was succesfull.

Okay, thank you for this hint. I will check what this hotfix does.

And interesting thing is, that I have customer in hungary with the same problem and I think I know what the problem is.

Just if you have time and a test machine. Can you download the French version of DWG TrueView and try to install. Let me know if that works. If so, I know what the problem is, and it could be solved.

regards

Markus

The French version installed succesfully.

The problem is, that in the English version of the DWG TrueView package some file names have another notation on the file system than defined in the msi package.

For example file "AcSceneOE.dbx" is in the MSI defined as "AcSceneOE.dbx", but on the file system the filename is "ACSCENEOE.dbx". And there are a lot of other files that are wrong.

And it looks like, that the KB4493509 triggers that problem, but in the strict sense the installation package from DWG TrueView englisch version is wrong.

I have tried to correct all file name notations and we test at the moment, but I have a result earliest tomorrow. If my modifications work, I can post a list with the file names to correct.

regards

Markus

Here is the list for Autodesk TrueView 2018 English version.

I've installed a Windows 10 1809 with language hungary and after my file name modifications the setup works.

I try to compare also 2019 and 2020, but takes some time ...

Could you make and upload somewhere an archived package what contains the fixed files? I'd like to copy them to the installation folder. Only the 2020 version important for me. Thanks.

Hello @jorgosz.bacsosz ,

I've attached a rar archive which contains a .bat file.

Extract/copy the .bat file to the folder where the setup.exe from the TrueView 2020 english installation package is located. There execute the file. The file is just a batch of "ren" commands which rename all file to the correct case sensitivity.

Let me know if it worked.

regards

Markus
