Hi,
I installed Revit from Autodesk Desktop Application, after this was completed I found three folders with the installation, I believe this is were the software was decompressed, because the actual installation is on C:\Program Files, as usual.
These new folders are in C:\Autodesk, inside this folder were created another three folders:
I think I can't just erased these folders, even when the software is not supposed to be installed there, I really don't know for sure, because the last time I did it I had trouble uninstalling the software. I'd like to know why are these folders created, If they can or can't be erased, if somebody knows why are they there.
I have an SDD, this kind of folders are created almost every time I install a new software form Autodesk and just for Revit they are occupying more than 14Gb, in addition to the installation in C:\Program Files.
So I'd be grateful if somebody could give me information about this folders, and how can they be removed without affecting the installed software, if possible.
Thank you. ![]()

You are correct that this is the location where the downloaded files are decompressed. These are not needed for the software to run - they are only used for the installation process.
Hello @bc.chiquito,
You can move or delete these files in the C:\Autodesk folder, this folder contains the installation folders and files for installed Autodesk products.
After downloading a program and running the self-extracting archive, it extracts the installation files to a folder in C:\Autodesk and then runs the setup file from there to start the install. When reinstalling, you may go to this folder and run the setup.exe instead of downloading the entire program again. If the C:\Autodesk folder is moved or deleted, attempting to do a repair or reinstall of a product will prompt for the location of installation media files.
You can move them to an external hard drive if you like.

Thank you for confirming, @natasha.l
I don't know it it's the expected behavior, but If would try to uninstall the software, it wouldn't be possible without this files on that folder, I just happened before, so I'll create a backup on an external drive and put them back on this location if necessary.
Thanks.
Hello @bc.chiquito,
Yes, if you need to reinstall or uninstall etc. it will try to locate these files so they are good to have. So sounds like a good plan to just relocate them for safe keeping.
