Dear Madam, Sir,

After using 3DStudio Max 2016 for 10 months without problems, I now get the following message when starting 3DStudio Max:

DLL <C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2016\stdplugs\RapidRTRenderer.dlr> failed to initialize. Error code 127 - The specified procedure could not be found.

I uninstalled 3DStudio Max 2016 and installed it again. The installation was succesfull. After starting Max again, I got the same message.

Please advice how to proceed.

Many thanks,

Henri Achten

Hello Henri_FA_CVUT and welcome to the Autodesk community!

It looks like you are seeing Error 127. The following article(s) should help you resolve the problem:

How to reset AutoCAD to defaults

Alternatively, please make sure you have the latest service pack installed before attempting to install the software.

Thank you for the reply, but my problem is with 3DStudio Max 2016, not with AutoCAD.

Hello @Anonymous,

Please try to follow that steps for uninstalling the current plugin & install mental ray from your Autodesk account. Make sure to use the correct plugin version & to review the More Options > View Details > Release Notes.

Thank you for posting. Smiley Happy
